What is Bechamel Sauce?
Bechamel sauce is a creamy white sauce made from butter, flour, and milk. It's often used in dishes like lasagna and macaroni and cheese to add a velvety smoothness.
Ingredients:
2 heads of broccoli
2 tablespoons of butter
2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
1 cup of milk
1 1/2 cups of grated white cheddar cheese
Seasoning salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions:
Wash the broccoli heads and cut them into florets. Steam or boil the broccoli until it is tender.
In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour to make a roux. Gradually whisk in the milk until the sauce thickens. Season with seasoning salt and freshly ground black pepper.
Place the cooked broccoli in a baking dish. Pour the bechamel sauce over the broccoli. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top.
Bake the casserole in a 350-degree oven for 25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Let the casserole cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your delicious broccoli-bechamel casserole!
