Let me tell you, life doesn't get much better than indulging in my homemade sausage gravy and dumplings! This dish is the epitome of fall comfort food at its finest! Ingredients: 1 pound of sausage 1/4 cup of self-rising flour 2 cups of milk Salt and pepper to taste Ingredients for the dumplings: 1 cup of self-rising flour 1/2 teaspoon of kosher salt 1 tablespoon of butter 1/2 cup of evaporated milk Instructions: Making the dumplings: In a bowl, add 1 cup of self-rising flour and 1/2 teaspoon of kosher salt. Stir well. Then, using a pastry cutter or fork, cut 1 tablespoon of butter in the flour mixture. Next, add 1/2 cup of evaporated milk to the flour mixture and mix until a dough forms, but do not overmix. Overmixing the dough will make your dumplings tough.
