Buttered Skillet Biscuits

Buttered Skillet Biscuits Today, I want to share another delicious biscuit recipe that you'll only need 4 ingredients for (cooking oil is included because you'll need about a 1/2 cup for your skillet). This is one of my favorite, no-fail biscuit recipes. The biscuits always rise, and they always taste so good. Ingredients: 3 cups of self-rising flour 1 cup of warm water 1/2 cup of softened butter 1/2 cup of canola oil Instructions: In a bowl, add 3 cups of self-rising flour and 1/2 cup of softened butter. Cut the butter into the flour with a fork or pastry cutter. Then add 1 cup of warm water. Mix just until the dough is well combined.   Now, allow the dough to rest for 20 to 30 minutes. After waiting, you'll see that the dough changes in form and almost doubles. (You don't want to skip doing this step.)   Form the dough into the size that you prefer. I gather enough to cover the palm of my open hand, then I roll it between both the palms of my hands to shape the dough....

Homemade buttermilk sunshine biscuits

Homemade buttermilk sunshine biscuits If you enjoy bread, today I am preparing my homemade buttermilk sunshine biscuits. These biscuits have nice, buttery flavored layers and a browned crunchy crust. To enhance the crust, I brush the tops of the dough with extra buttermilk before baking, then while the biscuits are baking, I brush the tops with melted butter to brown them. Plus, during the last few minutes of baking, I flip the biscuits over to brush the bottoms with extra melted butter. This is what creates the golden sunshine color on the outside of their crusts. Ingredients: 2-½ cups of self-rising flour, extra flour to roll the biscuits dough out 8-10 tablespoons of butter, softened 1 cup of buttermilk, plus three tablespoons to brush over the tops of your biscuit dough 2 tablespoons of melted butter, to brush over the tops of your biscuits when browning them Instructions: In a bowl, add the self-rising flour and softened butter together. You can use a food processor or cut the but...

Small batch biscuits

Small batch biscuits Today, I thought that I would make breakfast biscuits for two because there are only two people in my household. Although my recipe makes four biscuits, one biscuit that's 2-1/2 inches in diameter is an actual serving size. My husband always wants more than one biscuit. So this is the reason why I make four instead of two. If you'd like to make only two biscuits, reduce the ingredients by half. There are around 212 calories in one 2-1/2-inch-diameter biscuit. This calorie count does not include the extra calories when butter, honey, jam, sausage, eggs, bacon, or cheese are added to the meal. Ingredients: 2-1/2 cups of self-rising flour 6 tablespoons of butter 1 cup of water or milk Instructions: In a large bowl with a nice flat bottom, add all the self-rising flour and the butter. Cut the butter into the flour using a large fork. Pour the water or milk into the mixture and stir until the dough forms a ball. If needed, knead the dough four to six times with ...

Country-style English muffins

Country-style English muffins English muffins are the perfect go to breakfast bread because they can be toasted, buttered, or be used to make the most amazing breakfast sandwiches. Emergency Flatbread

Emergency Flatbread In times of crisis, this recipe is a lifesaver for providing a quick and satisfying meal for your family. This flatbread can be cooked using any available means. While I personally used lard in my dough, it is not a requirement; feel free to use whatever fat you have on hand or leave it out entirely. The flatbread can be cooked to your preference, whether lightly browned or extra crispy. For added flavor, consider incorporating seasonings into the dough during preparation. Ingredients: 2 1/2 cups of self-rising flour, plus additional for dusting 1 tablespoon of fat (such as lard) 3/4 to 1 cup of warm water Instructions: In a bowl, combine 2 1/2 cups of self-rising flour with 1 tablespoon of fat. Use a pastry cutter or fork to incorporate the fat into the flour. Gradually add warm water, starting with 3/4 cup and adjusting as needed. Mix the ingredients until just combined, being careful not to overwork the dough. The dough should have a slightly drier consistency th...

Homemade Country-style Cheese Bread

Homemade Country-style Cheese Bread To make my delicious cheese bread, first you'll need to follow my list of ingredients and instructions that go along with my country-style no-knead bread. No worries, I will do a recap for creating the dough again here in this article since it's the main dough recipe that I used to make my scrumptious country-style cheese bread. The Dutch oven that I prefer to use to prepare my rustic round bread is well loved. I was told that it was an 1851 vintage enamelware Dutch oven manufactured by Asta Fissler, Amsterdam, Germany. From measuring the dutch oven, it appears to be just under 3 quarts and it's 10 inches across in diameter. Here are the country-style no-knead dough ingredients for a recap:  These are the ingredients you'll need to start the dough. 3-½ cups of flour 1 teaspoon of yeast 1 teaspoon of seasoning salt (I use seasoning salt to give the bread more flavor) 1-½ cups of hot water (not boiling) 2 extra tablespoons of flour mixe...
