Eggless egg substitutes

It's no big secret that a dozen eggs in the supermarket nowadays will cost you a fortune. But I'm not buying into that and I refuse to pay more than a couple of bucks for something that shoots straight out of a chicken's rear end. So, today, I want to share some tips on various ingredients that I use for egg substitutes. Because maybe y'alls pocket book needs some relief too.

Below is a list of various items that work awesome as an egg substitute.

  • ¼ cup of canola oil = 1 egg

  • ¼ cup of carbonated water = 1 egg

  • ¼ cup of plain yogurt = 1 egg

  • ¼ cup of buttermilk = 1 egg

  • ¼ cup of sour cream = 1 egg

  • ¼ cup of plain creamed potatoes = 1 egg

  • 3 tablespoons of peanut butter = 1 egg

  • 3 tablespoons of almond butter = 1 egg

  • ¼ cup of unsweetened applesauce = 1 egg (The best egg substitute that can be used in any recipe for an egg substitute.)

  • ¼ cup of mashed banana = 1 egg

  • ¼ cup of mashed mango

  • ¼ cup of mashed avocado = 1 egg

  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda mixed with 1 tablespoon of vinegar = 1 egg

These ingredients can be substituted in almost everything that requires an egg. They make your recipes taste almost exactly like you used an egg, but the two best substitutes for an egg are: unsweetened applesauce and baking soda mixed with vinegar.

Unfortunately, you can't use any of these items to make sunny-side-up eggs, hard-boiled eggs, omelets, or spinach and eggs. If I ever figure that one out, I will be sure to share it!
