Red cabbage with pork loin strips and sautéed onions
This red cabbage stir fry is genuinely very delicious, and it's another meal that you can prepare ahead of time and easily reheat. It can be served as a meal by itself or as a yummy side dish. I like making this recipe the evening before I serve it because, in my opinion, it's even more flavorful the following day.
Ingredients:
1 head of red cabbage, cored and sliced
2 pork loin chops cut into thin strips
1 large onion, thinly sliced
1/2 cup of butter
2 teaspoons of soy sauce
1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon of seasoning salt
2 teaspoons of freshly ground black pepper
Instructions:
First, wash the cabbage, and then slice it in half. Carefully cut out the core (this will be the center hard piece). Now, thinly slice the cabbage or shred it. Set aside.
Wash and peel one large onion. Then slice the onion into thin pieces. Set aside.
Thinly slice two pork loin chops into strips. Set aside.
Place a large skillet on the burner and add 1/2 cup of butter. Melt the butter over medium heat. I used honey butter.
Next, add the thinly sliced onion pieces and sauté them and the strips of pork loin in the hot butter. Cook until the strips of pork turn white in color and the onion pieces are translucent.
Slowly add the prepared cabbage to the skillet and stir. Cover the skillet with a lid. Cook for about 8 minutes to allow the sliced cabbage to become tender. Stir the cabbage mixture every few minutes. At this point, the onions, cabbage, and pork strips should be well caramelized.
Next, turn the burner up to high and finish cooking the stir-fry. Then add 2 teaspoons of soy sauce and 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon of seasoning salt, and 2 teaspoons of freshly ground black pepper. Stir well.
Serve and enjoy!
