Best Practices for the Food Prepper: Build a Safe, Practical Emergency Food Supply

Best Practices for the Food Prepper: Build a Safe, Practical Emergency Food Supply A full pantry can still fail on day one of a power outage if meals need refrigeration, cooking fuel, or clean water. The goal of a food prepper is to build a safe system that provides useful nutrition during food shortages, severe weather, evacuations, supply disruptions, and financial strain. Good emergency food storage starts with household needs. It also depends on smart buying, safe storage, pantry rotation, clean water, and practice. The right plan includes food prepper supplies for no-cook meals, long-term food storage, shelf-stable meals, cooking limits, special diets, and likely local emergencies. Food Prepper Planning Starts With Household Needs Calculate Food, Water, and Calorie Requirements Count the people, pets, meals, and days your supply must cover. Keep drinking water separate from water needed for cooking, handwashing, dishwashing, infant care, and hygiene. Ready.gov commonly uses ...

Pita Pizza Bites

Pita Pizza Bites These pizza bites are a perfect snack time favorite at my house. They're really easy to prepare and they disappear as soon as I make them.  This delicious snack is so utterly fast to prepare. Now, fold one slice of the salami on the tops to each mini pita bite. Then add about four pepperoni slices on top of each of the salami slices.  Next, sprinkle the top of the pepperoni slices with the shredded cheese. Transfer the plate to the microwave, heat up the pita snacks for about thirty seconds, or until the cheese is fully melted. Serve and enjoy! ...

Why Gin Lee's Cast Iron Skillets Keep Country Cooking Steady

Why Gin Lee's Cast Iron Skillets Keep Country Cooking Steady A cast iron skillet sits on Gin Lee's country-kitchen stovetop, dark, heavy, and ready for the next meal. It isn't there for display. It sears meat, fries potatoes, bakes cornbread, and holds heat when the kitchen gets busy. That daily usefulness explains why Gin Lee's cast iron skillets have earned a lasting place in her cooking routine. Country kitchens need tools that can handle full meals without fuss. Cast iron brings heat retention, oven strength, durability, and one-pan convenience to the work. It also rewards steady habits, which makes it a natural match for cooks who value practical food and reliable results. Why Gin Lee's Cast Iron Skillets Hold Their Place Cast iron connects daily meals with tradition Cast iron has a solid feel that encourages hands-on cooking. A well-used skillet shows the marks of repeated meals, careful cleaning, and regular seasoning. That sense of continuity matters in a ...

Ingredients: 1 cup of Bisquick 4 tablespoons of powdered whole egg, or two eggs ¼ cup of powdered milk, or ⅔ cup of milk (if using milk, omit the water) ⅔ cup of water (omit if using regular milk) 6-ounce package of pepperoni 10 meatballs, sliced into smaller pieces 1 small onion, diced 1 tablespoon of garlic powder 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning ½ teaspoon of cayenne pepper flakes 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika ¼-½ cup of pasta sauce Cheese of your choice (I used about 1 cup of Velveeta) Instructions: In a bowl, add the Bisquick, powdered eggs (or two eggs), powdered milk (or milk...
