105-Year-Old Pastry Pie Dough Recipe

105-Year-Old Pastry Pie Dough For this recipe, my grandmother always used Crisco shortening. She swore by this stuff when she was making her homemade pastry dough. This pastry always makes a nice flaky pie crust. The recipe makes two 9-inch pie crusts. However, it can also be used for fried pies, tarts, etc. Ingredients: 2 1/2 cups of sifted all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon of salt 1 cup of Crisco shortening 1 egg, beaten with a fork 1 tablespoon of white vinegar 3-4 tablespoons of cold water Instructions: In a mixing bowl add the all-purpose flour, salt, and shortening. Next, use a pastry cutter to cut the shortening into the flour. (If you don't have a pastry cutter on hand, use a fork or a mixer.) In a separate bowl, beat the egg, and add the vinegar. Stir well. Then combine the wet mixture with the flour mixture. Next, add only enough water to the pastry ingredients for the dough to come together (about 3-4 tablespoons).  Don't knead the dough, or handle it for too long. Hand...
