Sprouts Being Recalled
The recalled products possibly connected to the outbreak were distributed from May 27, 2026 to Aug. 21, 2026 to grocery stores and wholesale distributors in Minnesota and Wisconsin. The recall includes certain lots of the following products:
Sprouts recalled after illnesses reported in 15 states.
The recalled alfalfa sprouts from Everything Sprouts, LLC have the following bar codes: 860014523113, 860014523120, and 850079470149. The affected lot numbers include 222, 223, 225, 226, and 230.
The sprouts were possibly contaminated with E. coli or salmonella, according to a news release posted to the Food and Drug Administration's website. The bacteria can cause illnesses that could be fatal for children younger than 5, elderly people or people with weakened or compromised immune systems.
As of Aug. 24, 55 cases of illness across 15 states related to alfalfa sprouts were reported, including two people who were infected with both E. coli and salmonella, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Seven were infected with salmonella, and 46 were infected with E. coli.
Four hospitalizations were reported, but there have been no deaths associated with the outbreak so far.

Indus Foods, LLC DBA Gangothri Foods Recalls Ready-To-Eat Pickled Goat and Chicken Products Produced Without Benefit of Inspection
WASHINGTON, Aug. 17, 2026 - Indus Foods, LLC, doing business as Gangothri Foods, an Austin, Tex. firm is recalling approximately 1,626 pounds of ready-to-eat (RTE) pickled goat and chicken products that were produced without the benefit of inspection, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.
The RTE pickled goat and chicken products were produced between January 28, 2025, and May 6, 2026, and have a two-year shelf life. The following products are subject to recall:
8-oz. glass jars containing "Gangothri Goat Pickle"
8-oz. glass jars containing "Gangothri Gongura Goat Pickle"
8-oz. glass jars containing "Gangothri Chicken Pickle"
8-oz. glass jars containing "Gangothri Gongura Chicken Pickle"
The products subject to recall do not bear a USDA mark of inspection. The affected products were sold to restaurants, retail locations, and distributors nationwide and direct to consumers online.
