Smoked Mussel Fettuccine
If you are seeking a unique and delightful way to create pasta, why not venture beyond the ordinary? Allow me to present to you a delectable recipe that will surely tantalize your taste buds.
Ingredients:
16 ounces (1 pound) of fettuccine pasta
2 cans (4 ounces each) of smoked mussels, drained
1 quart (4 cups) of your favorite Alfredo cheese sauce or red pasta sauce (see below).
1/2 teaspoon of savory seasoning salt
A pinch of aromatic smoked paprika
1 teaspoon of flavorful onion powder
4 quarts of water for cooking the pasta
Instructions:
Begin by filling a pasta pot with 4 quarts of water and bringing it to a vigorous boil over high heat. This will ensure the perfect texture for your fettuccine noodles.
Once the water reaches its boiling point, add the spaghetti noodles to the pot. Then, reduce the heat to a medium-high setting, allowing the pasta to cook for 12 minutes.
While the pasta is cooking, let us turn our attention to the star of this dish: the smoked mussels. Ensure that you have drained them thoroughly, as we want to preserve their smoky essence without any excess moisture. Set aside.
In a separate saucepan, prepare the cheese sauce or red pasta sauce by gently heating it over a low flame. This will allow the flavors to come together.
Ingredients and Instructions To Prepare the Alfredo Cheese Sauce:
In a separate pan, add 1 cup of heavy cream and 1 cup of butter. Bring the cream to a boil, then simmer for about 5 minutes. Stir well.
Now, add 1 cup of Parmesan cheese, 1 1/2 cups of Romano cheese, 1 1/2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese, 1 tablespoon of Italian seasoning, 1 tablespoon of freshly ground black pepper, 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika, and 1 teaspoon of seasoning salt to the cream mixture. Heat over a low temperature. Stirring well. Cook until the cheese is melted.
As the cheese sauce warms, sprinkle in the seasoning salt, smoked paprika, onion powder, and the drained smoked mussels.
Once the pasta has reached your desired level of doneness, drain the water.
You can either stir the cheese sauce into the cooked noodles or plate the noodles and generously ladle the sauce and smoked mussels on top. Serve and enjoy!
